Artifact: Gradebook Weebly
Reflection:
This artifact is an informational website about using and troubleshooting an online gradebook. The website was designed as an assignment for ITEC 7460 in the fall of 2014. This artifact was developed using Weebly, YouTube, and Google Docs. In this website, I provide a brief overview of the Rediker gradebook plus, an online gradebook. In addition, I note a few simple troubleshooting solutions to address common problems. The website was created and shared with my school as a support to a one hour workshop I provided on the gradebook. In essence, it was an extra option for people to troubleshoot the gradebook before turning to the technology department for help.
In this website, I utilized an abundance of digital resources (Weebly, YouTube, Screencasts, and Google Docs) to communicate pertinent information and provide suggestions for troubleshooting an online gradebook. While the gradebook is completely new to staff, it is absolutely essential for teachers to understand the basics and how to best use it. This particular gradebook is far more complex and sophisticated than our previous one, so this demanded an intensive training and a lot of support for teachers who struggle with technology. This website addresses several common troubles that could be encountered while using the online. In addition, because the website includes screencasts and step by step how-to guides, it is a great resource for troubleshooting.
This project required me to under go hours of research, practice, and online tutorials on a digital resource, and then utilize my knowledge of this resource and understanding of basic troubleshooting, along with my technology skills. As a result of my efforts, I learned more about Gradebook Plus as a digital resource and I learned more about common problems encountered by users that require troubleshooting. I also developed a larger repertoire of online tools by creating screencasts with YouTube, Google Docs, and Weebly. I continue to use these resources to this day. If I had the opportunity to improve this project, I would expand the website to include more troubleshooting options and tutorials. The inclusion of more support would make the website a more comprehensive guide for teachers.
This process benefited my learning and the learning of others exponentially. While the information I shared on the website is used to help other teachers use the online gradebook, the experience and information I obtained are just as awesome. I was provided with knowledge and understanding of how to asynchronously communication to a large audience through the use of remote technical support. This information has both enhanced my schools use of technology, but it has made me more of a central figure for technology reform and implementation.
